The "GZIP-1.3.3.TAR.GZ" file is a gzipped tar file, but the "pkgadd" command only process package format files.
If your system doesn't have "gunzip", then you should find another system that has the gunzip utility to unzip the "GZIP-1.3.3.TAR.GZ" file, then ftp the "GZIP-1.3.3.TAR" file to the target system, do a "tar xvf GZIP-1.3.3.TAR".
I am not sure if the tar file contains the source file or others, if that is the source file, then you will have to compile it.
You can go to http://www.sunfreeware.com to download the binary version of gzip-1.3.5, don't bother the source version.
